Biography:

Ian Smith is a Partner with MNP and leads the consulting practice for the GTA and Southern Ontario regions. Ian conducts strategic, organizational and governance reviews, and leads large-scale change initiatives for private and public sector companies. Working with boards, senior management and staff, Ian helps identify and implement practical, achievable, sustainable improvements in organizational performance while transferring knowledge and skills to the organization.

With over 25 years of consulting experience, Ian has a proven track record of delivering results, building organizational capacity and thinking strategically. His clients include municipal and provincial governments; government agencies; non-profit organizations; and private-sector organizations in a variety of industries.

Ian was formerly a Partner at a global management consulting firm, Director at a leading boutique consulting firm and Senior Manager with an international accounting firm. Prior to this, he was the first president of Toronto Transit Consultants Limited and a member of the senior management team of the Toronto Transit Commission.

Designated a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) in 1992, Ian has an MBA from York University and an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo. He is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Toronto Board of Trade and is currently a member of its Municipal Affairs Committee. Ian is Chair of the Board of Directors of Hincks-Dellcrest Centre and a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee for The Learning Partnership.
